Our Venue
The Gathering Place is an exceptional event venue in Metropolis, located in the beautiful Southern Illinois region, making it perfect for weddings and special occasions. Accommodating up to 150 guests, this stunning venue offers onsite parking for 70 cars. Built in 2005, our modern barn features galvanized metal ceilings, white farmhouse walls, elegant chandeliers, and climate control for comfort in any season. We provide a fully equipped kitchen with a warming cabinet, ice machine, and serving room, along with men's and women's restrooms, a groom's room, and a spacious bridal suite complete with a private bathroom. The main room showcases 2 sets of 9 ft. French doors that open to a covered patio and courtyard equipped with Adirondack chairs and fire pits. Our beautiful gazebo, adorned with a cupola chandelier, creates an ideal setting for outdoor ceremonies. With various wedding package rental options available and both indoor and outdoor ceremony locations, The Gathering Place allows you to say 'I do' in a space that truly reflects your style and personality.

Our Venue
Hi, we are Tim and Shannon Shelby, the proud owners of The Gathering Place, an event venue in Metropolis, Illinois. Our love story began in the early '80s, and we have cherished our time together since then. Although we had a traditional wedding with cake, nuts, and mints, it was a beautiful day that we missed sharing with family and friends. So, when our son expressed his wish to get married at home five years ago, we knew it had to be a true celebration. At that time, the barn was a bit smaller and lacked some of the features it now boasts, but the wedding turned out wonderfully. It was such a lovely experience that we later hosted an intimate evening wedding for a friend a few months afterward. In 2020, we were honored to host two stunning weddings for our nieces in the barn, both of which were truly beautiful. That fall, we organized our fifth event, a wedding reception, which turned out to be a fantastic celebration. Recognizing the demand for a barn venue in our area, we decided to make significant improvements. With renovations completed in September 2023, we're thrilled to share that our first wedding after the updates took place on the 16th of that month, showcasing our new wedding package rental options.

Our wedding package rental at The Gathering Place is $3,200 plus tax, including all of the above amenities for Friday and Saturday, from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm (Sunday till noon for clean-up).
(Note) Alcohol is allowed; we require a liability insurance policy of one million dollars for the day of the event.
